Nikol Koutsi was born in Lausanne. She started dancing in amateur contemporary dance companies and furthered her studies at the Niki Kontaxaki-Nikoletta Bakali Higher Professional School of Dance from whence she graduated in 1993.
Her training includes a series of workshops and dance courses in Greece and London, as well as professional performances for “Analia” and “Iros Aggelos” dance companies.
Throughout her training she has studied a range of contemporary dance technique including Limon, Release and Contact Improvisation.
She has been teaching Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance in dance academies, as well as Creative Movement and Kinetics in elementary schools and theatre workshops. Her work also includes choreography for the feature films “My Brother and I” and “End of an Era”, directed by Antonis Kokkinos.

Additionally, workshops and courses by Greek choreographers (Anthimidou Maria, Mandafounis Charis, Tsouvala Maria, Mary Tsouti, Aggeliki Stellatou, et al.)
She was first introduced in the Pilates method while staying in Athens, completed her study on this method in Paris and New York, and in 2002 she obtained her degree from the Pilates Studio in New York. She was trained by Romana Kryzanowska and by an excellent team of Pilates training experts (Michael Fritzke, Tom Voogt, Peter Fiaska et al.)
During the summer of 2006 in New York she participated in conferences organized by Romana Pilates and Pilates Style Magazine and in courses led by Lolita San Miguel, Alycea Ungaro, Mari Winsor, et al.
In June 2008 she attended workshops by Michael Fritzke and Ton Vooght at Pilates Zentrum Berlin. For the past 3 years she has been attending Bob Liekens’ workshops in Athens.
The studio “Art of Control” opened its doors for the first time in September 2003. |
